Shana Ashby

Director/Owner

Who is someone you admire, and why?
I have a lot of people I admire but it is all for the same reason. Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela, Rosa Parks, the list goes longer but the reason I admire them was their ability to see what was wrong in the world, be brave enough to stand against it, and bring the change peacefully.

Three of your biggest pet peeves?
Unkind behavior from adults. Unnecessary ALL CAPS letters. People going slow when I’m trying to hurry

What’s a typical day like for you?
I wake up my husband in the most annoying way I can think of. My husband and I like to drive our kids to school together. At work I spend my time seeing how I can help teachers, doing super boring paperwork, loving on the kids, annoying Mikaela with my over-caffeinated self, and talking to all of the parents as they pick up and drop off. Usually I come home late because I talk too much… At home I like to help my kids with homework and piano, make and eat dinner together, and then end the night with a quick show, book, or board game.

Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know about?
I can ride goofy or regular depending on the board. Whenever trying a new board sport I spend most of my time arguing with myself which foot I want to go first.

If you could be anywhere other than here, right this minute, where would you be?
Playing on a hot beach somewhere with my family.

Flashback to when you were 10 years old. What do you want to be when you grow up?
A Mommy to 12. A midwife. A daycare provider (I legit have my journal stating these career choices).

What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job?
My ability to be empathetic to all situations.

Name three words that describe you.
Outgoing. Adventurous. Passionate

What do you want to make sure you do before you die?
Backpack Europe

What are you happiest doing, when you’re not working?
Spending time with my family.

What are some causes you care about?
Foundations that help foster children’s learning, growth and hitting fundamental milestones.

What do you do with friends in your spare time?
Board games, comedy clubs, backpacking, spikeball, and epic birthday trips.

What would be your personal motto?
I’ll rest when I’m dead!
